Hey, what is “Dark Matter,” anyway?

With our help, you will become aware of the “dark matter” and how it influences your performance so that you can use it to your advantage. You will manage people better, get more done (and get more of the really important things done), and feel a greater sense of reward and fulfillment from your work.

You’ve no doubt heard the phrase “tip of the iceberg,” meaning that what you see above the water is only a fraction of what’s really there, hiding  beneath the surface. Physicists currently believe that only a small portion of the matter in the universe is visible, and they labeled the rest Dark Matter. Like our iceberg, there is much more that is hidden than is visible, and this invisible matter has a powerful effect on everything we do see.

At Dark Matter Consulting, we believe that success depends more upon the often unseen and unarticulated values, beliefs and emotions of the leader and the team than on the visible, rational, logical plans. Knowledge alone isn’t enough to get you there. If it were, none of us would smoke or use drugs and we would all exercise, eat right, and plan our time well, but sadly, that’s not the case.

Also, we chose the name “Dark Matter” because Dave is a science fiction fan. He loved the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica, and one of his dreams is to be an extra in a sci-fi show or movie.
